I’ve always thought that I had it all together when it comes to skin maintenance.

Think religious pre-sleep skincare routines with my choice night cream, and preparing myself from rays of the sun or environmental pollutants by way of sunscreen – applied topically and consumed orally.

It was not only after my bi-weekly facial with my trusted aesthetician that I realized that something was missing from my skincare regimen – and it’s costing me dearly.

The Discovery

Grateful to be able to avoid the lunchtime human horde in the CBD area, I sought sanctuary in SW1’s outlet in Downtown OUE, where I usually have my fortnightly dose of the aptly named Facial Cocktail.

My beverage of choice and an appetizer later, Dr. Low Chia Ling, founder and medical director of SW1 entered the waiting room, where I proceeded to share my skin concerns before the good doctor’s diagnosis.

It was only after Dr. Low’s question before her official diagnosis, that I realized my gross negligence of one part of my body that ages the most aggressively: the neck.

What’s “Necks”?

I soon learned from Dr. Low that the skin around our neck is one of the thinnest, which also means that the elixir of youth that is collagen are at their lowest levels there.

“There are muscles in your neck that are strained daily, from eating to frowning or smiling. Platysma muscles as they’re called are connected to the muscles on your jawline. With low collagen levels and the pull of gravity, the skin around the neck starts to sag, pulling the jaw muscles along with it.” explains Dr. Low.

Upon her suggestion, I decided the give my rapidly sagging neck the time of day by undergoing this procedure called the Nefertiti Facelift.

This was my exact sentiment upon hearing the word ‘facelift’, but I was swiftly reassured by my doctor.

The procedure is delivered by way of muscle-relaxing microinjections on key affected areas, relieving the downward gravitational pull and tension of the neck muscles. The collagen-stimulating contents then encourage the swift repair and rejuvenation of the skin.

The advent of aesthetic technology has allowed a facelift to be a non-invasive procedure and requires no sedation, scalpel or surgery.

After I was ushered into the treatment room, the nurses prepped me for the procedure by applying numbing cream on the areas to be treated.

Against the backdrop of soothing lounge music and the lulling scent of lavender, I found myself being enveloped by a sense of calm and serenity, as preparations for my non-invasive neck/facelift went underway.

The Procedure

With the numbing cream starting to take effect, Dr. Low reassuringly told me to relax, as she explained this very swift procedure to me.

She then proceeded to introduce muscle-relaxants and collagen-producing stimulants into strategic parts of my neck and jawline, by way of micro-fine designer needles.

I was expecting to feel some pain or discomfort, but I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the whole procedure was. I’m not the biggest fan of needles, and I barely flinched.

Dr. Low was done before I knew it, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the treatment left no visible marks on my neck and face, allowing me to touch up my makeup, get my lunch, and head back to the office – on the same day itself.

What I observed over the next few days astounded me. I never realized what a difference tighter, taut skin around the neck made to my appearance. Over the course of the week, I also observed a gradual lifting effect around my lower jawline… magical was the only way I could describe it.

Words might not adequately encapsulate the importance of this lift I never knew I needed – you’ll just have to try it yourself to find out.
