Confidence is something no one can take from you. So, if you ever feel like enhancing your body – do it, as long as it makes you happy!
Now that we’re on the topic, we’d love to discuss breast augmentation. Also called breast enhancement surgery or breast implants, it is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures today – even your favourite celebrities like Cardi B, Angelina Jolie, and Sarah Parker are fans.
And, though boob jobs never hurt anyone, misinformation could. There are tons of myths surrounding the procedure, so we took it into our hands to debunk them.
What is Breast Augmentation Surgery?
Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that adds volume and restores the breast shape. Typically, it entails inserting silicone or saline implants through small incisions. Another option is fat transfer, wherein the surgeon takes fat from another body part and puts it into the breast. This procedure can help boost your self-esteem, improve body proportion, and make you feel more confident about your sexuality!
Debunking Myths About Breast Augmentation
Myth #1: You can’t breastfeed when you have implants.
It’s normal for expecting or new mothers to worry about anything that can affect the quality of their breast milk. But if you decide to get implants, you can rest assured that it will not directly impact your breastfeeding. Breast augmentation surgery cannot affect the parts that help produce breast milk, such as the milk ducts. In addition, the materials used in the implants are safe and will not leak into your milk.
Myth #2: They look unnatural, so everyone would know you got one.
This statement would have been true during the earlier days of breast implants. However, recent technologies have paved the way for better implants that can mimic the natural shape of your breast. Implants injected under your pectoral muscles look subtler as the overlying tissue can smooth it out. Additionally, there are two main implant shapes you can choose from: teardrop and round. Although they both look natural, the teardrop shape looks more realistic because it resembles the natural slope of the breasts.
Myth #3: Implants are only for young women.
Wait up – since when was there an age limit for feeling sexy and feminine? No matter your age, you can get breast augmentation surgery. It can make your body look younger as it restores the firmness and volume of your breast, especially after pregnancy.
Myth #4: You can’t get mammograms after surgery.
Some women fear that getting breast augmentation surgery will affect mammogram results. This is simply not true. You can still get accurate results even if you have implants. Just remember to inform your doctor or radiologist beforehand.
Myth #5: You can go up as many cup sizes as you want.
You can customise your breast implants, which is one of the perks of the procedure! However, it’s best if you stay realistic with your desired results. There are several factors to consider, like height, weight and body frame. Because your body and skin require time to adjust, don’t expect to go from a B cup to a DD cup in a single surgery. If you want a dramatic increase, it’s better to gradually increase the implant size over a few years.
